For most papers formatted in Turabian style, in-text citations are formatted as footnotes.
Footnotes are a method of documenting sources for a paper with the following characteristics:
Superscripted numbers at the points in the text where a source needs to be referenced.
Numbers in the text are in the order of their appearance in the paper (1, 2, 3, etc.).
Numbered citations for sources are listed at the bottom of each page, in the order of their appearance in the document.
Specific page references are required when exact wording from the source is included in the paper.
Endnotes are identical to footnotes in most respects, with this difference: footnotes are
included at the bottom of the page, and endnotes are listed on the final page of the paper.
1. Open your paper, and put the cursor where you would like to place the footnote.

2. On the Word menu, click References, Insert Footnote.

3. Word will insert a footnote in the paper, numbered correctly, and place the
cursor in the footnote.
4. Switch to CiteWrite, and click the Insert Cite in Document tab.
Note: You can easily switch between Word and CiteWrite by clicking on the
icons on your Task Bar, which is usually visible at the bottom of your screen.
5. Check your document to make sure the footnote has been placed successfully in the Word footnote pane.
