Find the entry for the work you want to cite in your datafile.

There are several ways to find the entry for the work you want to cite in your datafile.

The simplest method is to use the PgUp and PgDn keys on your keyboard to step through the entries in your datafile. You can also click on the arrows at the bottom of the edit panel to step forward or backward through the entries.
There are several items to help you navigate through your datafile at the bottom of the edit screen.

  • The number of the current record in the datafile
  • Buttons to go to the first / last record
  • Arrows on scrollbar to display next / previous record

In many cases, however, you will want to use one of the search functions.

CiteWrite includes a feature that displays a "Short List" of all the entries in your datafile.

To display the Short List for your datafile: With your datafile open, click Format, Find Records in Short List.

A Shortlist for your datafile will display.

Double-click on any of the entries to go to that record.


Note: The initial setting for the list is alphabetical. You can change the sort order for the ShortList by right-clicking on any column, and choosing a different sort option.

Alternatively, you can type a search term in the text box at the top of the Edit panel, and press Enter.
